Our first post of, not our first, “do-it-yourself project”! For a long time households have chosen to cover their favorite pieces of furniture with glass. This protects your furniture from the everyday hustle and bustle that can often over time ruin a very expensive or cherished piece.
At Blue Sky we have decided to take this protective glass and give it a little twist! In the past we have paid companies to professionally paint the bottom of glass for us. Giving the glass and furniture piece a spiced up touch! However, now that times and budgets may be a little more sensitive we have decided to tackle the obstacle ourselves!
Materials you will need:
- Your favorite color spray paint, that says “safe for plastic or metal”.Make sure you use a well ventilated area.
- Blue painters tape -to tape the edges of the glass.
- Something to elevate the glass – cardboard boxes etc.
- Protective clothing or gloves
Steps:
- Set up cardboard boxes on ground so spray paint does not stain the ground.
- Place sturdy stands that your glass will sit on, on top of cardboard flooring
- Place glass on top
- Tape edges of glass
- Shake can really well. Spray paint only one side
- Wait for it to dry
- Make sure can is not almost empty because if the spray paint starts spitting it will make ugly blots on your glass.
Tips:
- Turn your glass upside down on a solid surface. If it is transparent you may see more flaws because of light.
- Plexiglas will work fine also for a crunched budget.
